On the Yoga mat, it is vital that you have proper alignment and form in postures to avoid injury and achieve maximum benefit from the exercise being performed. This applies to browsing the internet as well.
You likely did some searching for yoga and gut health online before stumbling upon this blog and my previous posts about the efficacy and best sources for improving your gut health and practice, and it is great that you did! But what this also means is that the search engines you use probably stored these searches and are using this information to best formulate advertisements to show you.
According to a TEDTalk by Jennifer Golbeck, our social media activity is all sent back to marketing teams that work with data analytics and find trends based on our searches and likes. So advertisements you may start receiving now may appear more relevant to your interests, like yoga mats, yoga apparel, or health food brands, but always think twice before clicking on an advertisement because there is a good chance it is a scam. Certain links can install viruses on your computer or gather your personal data with just the click of a link, as Avi Rubin and Manoush Zomorodi discuss in their TEDTalk and Podcast respectively.
If you were to try for your splits before you could even touch your toes in yoga, you would end up with some very sorry hamstrings and would be out of commission for quite some time. The same goes for internet usage. Mindlessly following links and letting the internet know what you like can also result in damage to your privacy and the security of your personal devices. It is also important to be weary of what you post online, because all of this information becomes as permanent as a tattoo, according to Juan Enqriquez.
In accordance to my own advice, all of the sources I use in this blog will be checked for validity and credibility before they are referenced, and all material that is not mine will be cited or uncopyrighted. My goal is to educate my followers, and there is no profit involved in this website.
